Immigration to Paraguay

Permanent residency and Cedula (Paraguayan identity card)

A permanent residency permit allows you an unlimited stay in Paraguay. You may decide to have your principal or secondary residency in the country, find a job or become self-employed. Additionally you may profit of the tax advantages in Paraguay.

The immigration into Paraguay is quite easy for foreigners coming from Europe. The easiest way is to enter as a tourist and everything else can be organized on the spot. Europeans are allowed to stay in Paraguay up to three months without a visa and to apply during their stay for either permanent or temporary residence permit.

Documents required to apply for residence permit in Paraguay

1. Identification document (passport, etc.);

2.Police or court records from the applicant's country of origin; *

3.Birth certificate; *

4.Civil state certificate (marriage, divorce, separation, widowhood); *

5.Consular tourist visa for the countries that require it;

6.Proof of economic solvency that must be demonstrated by one of the following means:

-Deposit to a chequing or savings account at a Paraguayan bank in the amount of at least five thousand dollars US ($ 5.000.00 USD) or its equivalent value in local or foreign currency. The bank account must be in the name of the applicant; or

-Real estate property deed of a property located in Paraguay; or

-University diploma attached to an offer of employment or work contract in Paraguay with the indication of the amount to be received in fees or salary. A commercial license will not be accepted.

* The documents stated in 2, 3, 4 and 5 must be legalized at the Paraguayan consulate in the country of origin. The identification document does not require legalization.

Document Legalization

For documents to have legal status in Paraguay, they must be legalized by the embassy's Consular Section according to the following procedure:

1. The original or a notarized copy of each document must first be legalized by a provincial government office of signatures.

2. Upon legalization by a government authority, the document(s) must be submitted to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Paraguay in your home country.

Important: In your own country translated documents are not recognized in Paraguay. All documents must be translated by an officially sworn local translator.

Our services:

With your documentation we will run the administrative procedures for you. You will only need to hand us in the papers, sign the authorization that allows us to apply for the permanent residency in your name and we will handle with everything, unless that for certain acts a personal attendance is required.

Among other things we translate your documents and legalize them in the diverse ministries. There are also some additional documents that are to be obtained here in Paraguay:

1.Certificate issued by the National Police, Identifications Department of Paraguay

2.Interpol certificate, issued by the regional office in Asuncion

3.Life and residence certificate, issued by the jurisdictional police

4.Certification of return

5. Certification to apply for the cedula

6. Health certificate

7. etc.

We will manage in order to get all necessary documents within 3 days and hand them in for you. Our service includes picking you up from the hotel and escorting you in all important matters.

Altogether, we offer services including all fees at a price of:

Per person: 850,- Euro

Children under 14 years: 600,- Euro

Normally it takes a year or longer till the immigration service hands out the permanent residency permit. A precise time frame is difficult to define, unless you take additional costs to speed up the process. In such case, a permanent residency permit may be obtained within 1-3 months.

The authorities in Paraguay differ fundamentally from any service offices in Europe: Permanent residency permits requested on the "normal" way, without professional assistance, may easily be forgotten under a huge pile of applications or get lost in the administration. That is why many foreigners prefer to look for professional assistance instead of dealing personally with all kind of upcoming problems. Making just a price comparison it can be easily determined which service providers are totally overpriced. However, one should also not forget that the price also determines the speed in a lot of cases and that cheaper offers often don´t provide the full service or don´t include all the costs!

If you have further questions don´t hesitate to call or write us an e-Mail-.
